Production

The production of Telenovelas seems to be an intense and difficult process. I can not imagine what some of the actors go through after long and difficult days of reshooting scene after scene. There are lots of lines for the actors to remember and actions they have to fulfill at the same time. I don't think I could ever keep up with all of the qualifications it takes to create a good scene. I wonder if actors are ever uncomfortable when creating sexual scenes or if it doesn't phase them at all? The actors have to appear as if they have a real connection with the person they are shooting the scene with.
Do you think the actors lose touch with reality after acting as a certain character for so long? There have been many actors over the past few decades who have become ill or gone crazy due to their dedication to being a character. Many viewers of the Telenovela also forget that the actor is not actually the character they enjoy watching on the screen. This is one of the many challenges that actors face.
Outside of that, there is a lot of things that go on behind the scenes. There are camera angles, microphones, directors, and lighting. All of these things have to line up perfectly outside of the actors to create a great scene. If the mic is not held in the right corner then the actors may not be heard as intensely as they need to be. If the camera angle is not held a certain way then it may cause the actor to look unattractive, fat, or creating the wrong visual. If the lighting is not just right then the scenes may not flow together or look as if they are different colors on the screen.
The production process seems very difficult, intense, and stressful to me. I did not appreciate the production process as much as I should until Dr. A informed me on these things. It was very interesting watching some of the behind the scene clips. It gave me a real idea of what creating a Telenovela looks like.
ReplyDeleteHi Mahaylee. I think this blog post is very insightful and shows a sense of compassion towards people who work in this industry. This reminded me of when Ilkin came to speak in our class and opened up about the many difficulties and hardships of being an actress. Acting seems like such a glamorous and fun career, but after speaking with Ilkin and seeing the production aspect in class it is clear this isn't always the case. Dr. A always stressed in class the fast paced, high demand lifestyle these people live. I can't imagine the stress of receiving "la pauta" only one night before filming. However, Ilkin also did a great job of expressing what keeps her motivated in her career, her passion. This was such an inspirational message to hear from her because we can all apply it to what we end up doing. Great post!
